Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which casino betting is against the law. Eight casinos are established in a relatively small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and though visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is real of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau casino, highlights 150 slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel complex that contains a number of conveniences aside from the gambling den, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
